    Summary of the international video-conference "Integrated Solutions for Virtual Mobility Implementation. UbiCamp case" about the benefits that virtual and blended mobility can bring to students, teachers and higher education institutions.

    The international video conference "Integrated Solutions for Virtual Mobility Implementation. UbiCamp case" took place on February 25, 2014, to raise awareness of decision-makers and international officers at higher education institutions about the important benefits that virtual and blended mobility can bring to students, teachers and higher education institutions. The event was organized by Vytautas Magnus University in the framework of Lifelong Learning Program Erasmus Multilateral Project "UbiCamp: Integrated Solution to Virtual Mobility Barriers" (Project ID: 526843-LLP-1-2012-ES-ERASMUS-ESMO).

    The online synchronous session embraced the participants from 25 universities from 10 EU countries, representatives from policy makers from European Commission, national Ministries of Education, national agencies, European professional networks. The discussion focused on clear benefits of student blended mobility implementation procedures and the need for involvement of numerous EU universities in the process.

    Mr. Ricardo Ferreira, a Policy Officer at Skills and Qualifications Strategies and Multilingualism policy department at European Commission, presented the importance of virtual and blended mobility issues in the context of the Communication from European Commission "Opening Up Education". He noted that virtual and blended mobility forms open up possibilities for learning, thus it is inevitable to find the ways to remove the barriers for innovation and there is a great need to explore new organizational models, share best practices on the best modes to integrate ICT and to cope with the challenges.

    Mrs. Birute Miškiniene from Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Sciences emphasized the need to discuss and revise ECTS guides on the national and international levels in order to find the best valuable place for virtual and blended mobility.

    Vice Rectors from Vytautas Magnus university, as well as other representatives from University of Oviedo (Spain), University Autonoma de Madrid (Spain), University of Pavia (Italy), and University of Granada (Spain) emphasized the need to create trusted collaborative settings for higher education institutions to allow the pathway for innovations through different mobility forms and their recognition.
